Mayor Thomas M. Menino has loyally served the City of Boston for over 20 years. As his final term comes to a close, Boston Partners in Education joins Mass Mentoring Partnership in honoring him for Mentoring Thanks Menino Week (Oct. 21-25, 2013).

Throughout his five terms in office, Mayor Menino has dedicated time, effort and resources towards creating and improving educational opportunities for the city’s youth– ensuring that each and every child has access to the quality educational experience they deserve.

At a 2008 Big Cheese Reading, Mayor Menino spoke to middle school students at the Donald McKay School in East Boston about the importance of literacy.

To expand its reach, the City enlisted the help of community partners like Boston Partners in Education. Over the years, we saw how our combined efforts changed schools, increased graduation rates, and reduced achievement gaps. At Boston Partners, we share Mayor Menino’s commitment to furthering the education of Boston’s children, and know that community involvement is key to student success.

Mayor Menino shocked the entire Tobin K-8 School when he showed up with the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series trophy– an experience those students will never forget. Mayor Menino made a tremendous impact on students that day, and also on our organization over the past 20 years. Thank you Mayor Menino, for your support and involvement with Boston Partners in Education over your 20-year tenure; the support you have provided us has been invaluable.
