The fall Make a Mentor Match campaign is off to a strong start, as combined fundraising events for Boston Partners in Education — made possible by our dedicated partners and volunteers — raised over $3,000 for the organization in a two-day span.
Last Tuesday night, Boston Partners was the beneficiary of the Boston’ Celtics 50/50 Raffle, in partnership with the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. Over thirty volunteers helped spread their enthusiasm for student mentoring by roaming the concourse of TD Garden and selling raffle tickets throughout the first half of the Celtics game. In addition to educating the crowd about our mentoring programs, we raised just shy of $2,000 during the game.
We were equally amazed by the turnout at the first annual Back to School Bash, hosted by The Frogmore in Jamaica Plain the next night. Over 50 volunteers, community members, and friends of Boston Partners joined us for a low-country boil, with all drink purchases supporting our organization. Attendees were invited to participate in a raffle, with some great prizes previously procured by our John Hancock MLK Scholars. The event raised over $1,100, in total.
Thanks to all who volunteered their time and treasure in support of Boston Partners in Education. We hope to keep this momentum going as we seek to hit $10,000 in the Make a Mentor Match campaign!
