Imagine a crisp September morning in the gentle hills of Foxborough, Massachusetts, brisk but with the promise of summer-like day.  A large crowd gathers, and within it patches of bright colored shirts begin to form as teammates locate one another. Heard among the chatter is the sharp hissing sound of air as it’s pumped into bicycle tires. It’s the ideal day to enjoy a relaxing outdoor activity such as a picnic or a leisurely hike, but for 1,300 cycling enthusiasts, there’s nowhere else they’d rather be.

On September 28, 2013, folks from around the state devoted their Saturday to participating in the Rodman Ride for Kids, a non-competitive cycling event that raises funds to support organizations that serve at-risk children in Massachusetts.

Among these non-profit teams is a diverse, dedicated group of riders from Boston Partners in Education. Through an affiliation with Mass Mentoring Partnership, members of Team Boston Partners rode 25, 50, or 100 miles with the same goal in mind– to raise funds and awareness for programs that benefit quality youth mentoring, like those provided by Boston Partners in Education.

Members of the team are connected to Boston Partners in a variety of ways, ranging from being staff and board members, to being volunteer academic mentors and corporate sponsors. Learn more about our riders through their pictures below!

This year, over 50 youth-focused non-profit organizations worked together to collectively raise over $10 million for youth development programs. Thanks to the commitment of our riders, and the generosity of our donors, Team Boston Partners has raised nearly $14,000 so far! To top it off, the final amount raised will receive a 10% match from The Rodman Ride.

After months of training and fundraising, Team Boston Partners is ready to ride!

Meet Team Boston Partners!

We were thrilled to have our first father/son pair fund raising and riding for us this year. Board Member John Durocher and his son Jack motivated each other during the 25-mile ride and crossed the finish line together.
