School Is More Than Just A Building.

It’s more than a place where students learn. School is where students feel heard, where they build connections, where they can be inspired. School is where you can make a difference.

This year, Boston Public Schools (BPS) students are going to need our support more than ever. Even while we’re socially distancing, we can continue to shape Boston’s future. No matter where classrooms are, or what school looks like, you can always be a mentor. Volunteer with BPIE and get matched with a student in-person or online today!

WHAT CAN YOU DO IN JUST AN HOUR A WEEK?

More than you think. This year, students are more likely than ever to become discouraged about school and learning. By volunteering as a mentor in a BPS classroom, you can provide students with the extra socio-emotional support they need to feel more connected and build the skills and confidence to improve their academic achievement.

One hour of personal attention each week can be life-changing for students, especially at a time when they’re likely to feel disconnected from their classmates. Whether you read together or work on math problems, talk about professions and career options, or simply practice social skills, your time together helps prepare students for a lifetime of success.

BOSTON PARTNERS IN EDUCATION, PROUD SUPPORTER OF BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOR 50 YEARS

Since 1966, Boston Partners in Education has connected Boston’s communities to its classrooms, creating mentor matches during class time to help close student achievement and opportunity gaps. Students matched with our academic mentors develop better study skills, earn higher grades, and increase their self-confidence. Our ultimate goal? To ensure that every student in Boston who needs an academic mentor has one.
