Boston Public Schools SuperIntendent Tommy Chang is sharing some great news today about our school partner Jeremiah Burke High School. Four years ago, Burke High was designated one of the worst schools in the state. Today it’s being recognized as Boston’s most improved school!
Boston Partners in Education’s volunteer academic mentors have been present at Burke High School for many years, but our partnership with the school has really blossomed in the last three. This year, we have 12 academic mentors currently serving 24 students, supporting them in Math, Biology, Physics, History and English Language Arts. Our growing relationship earned the Burke our School Partner of the Year award in 2015.
The Burke is a strong advocate for the power of community engagement in the classroom, and it has been a key to their success. Boston Partners is proud to be a valuable resource for students at the Burke, and we look forward to building an even stronger relationship in the future.
