I love win/win situations. I also love food, tasty beverages and good company. So, during the month of March, I have been very happy. Boston Partners in Education is the featured charity this month at “Give Back @ The Grill.” For those of you not in the know, “The Grill” refers to the Ashmont Grill, a neighborhood haunt of mine that serves up some very good eats. For the past couple of years, they’ve offered a Monday night wine club – a chance to try a variety of wines carefully matched to a special menu for the evening. Recently, Ashmont Grill added a charity component to the club, giving some of the proceeds to local organizations like Boston Partners in Education who are doing work in Dorchester.
It’s now mid-March and we have only two more weeks to benefit from this amazing opportunity. I am inviting all of you to join us on March 21 and March 28, 2011. There are two can’t miss wine themes – California Dreaming and Frances’ Greatest Hits. The food is amazing, and since I have been to the last two weeks, I can state that the pairings of food and wine have been very good. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and goes to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $35/person and of that Boston Partners receives $5 to support our work helping K-12 students, specifically in Dorchester.
Check out this photo of me with some Friends of Boston Partners in Education last Monday, March 14. We had a great time. What a great way to start of a work week!
This sort of activity has been a trend in the restaurant/nonprofit world for several years. Restaurants get people through their doors, experiencing their food and atmosphere and nonprofits that they partner with raise some money. These days every penny raised counts! Like I said at the beginning – win/win!
Hope to see you the next two Mondays in March. If you plan to join us at the Ashmont Grill, please call them at 617.825.4300 and make a reservation, or email me at [email protected] and I will make one big reservation for all of us. The more the merrier!
