Boston Partners in Education is currently accepting applications for summer interns through the John Hancock MLK Summer Scholars program.  These internships are open to current BPS freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Priority will be given to students who are 16-18 years old and are currently Boston Partners mentees. However, we are open to any BPS student who exhibits leadership qualities and is excited about this opportunity.

About the Organization:
Imagine that you or a classmate were having a difficult time in school. What if you had a mentor to come once a week to help you stay on top of school work and check in on how you were doing? Since 1966 Boston Partners in Education has been recruiting and supporting volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to go into Boston Public Schools to mentor students.

Boston Partners in Education (Boston Partners) enhances the academic achievement and nurtures the personal growth of Boston’s public school students by providing them with focused, individualized in-school volunteer support.

What you will do:
Schools are often requesting more mentors from Boston Partners and we always need to spread the word so that more people know about our organization and more people sign up as volunteers. As a John Hancock MLK Scholar at Boston Partners, your job over the summer will be to work with staff at Boston Partners to conduct community outreach and recruit volunteer mentors through flyering and events. You will spend about half your time working in our office and the other half out in the community.
Scholars will also:
-Contribute to the Boston Partners in Education blog and social media
-Help staff plan for our Fall volunteer engagement and fundraiser event
-Lead a media project to support outreach to volunteers

What you will gain:
-Scholars will be paid $1,925 each over 6 weeks, paid biweekly
-Work experience in a non-profit office
-Professional Development through in-office trainings, supervision, and Mayor Menino Leadership Forums
