We were honored to welcome over 30 mentors and educators with us at the 2018 Winter Warmer last Thursday evening. The annual celebration, which has taken on many forms over the years, is always planned as a way for Boston Partners in Education to thank the volunteers and teachers who are so essential to the success of the students we serve.
Hosted by Capital One Cafe in the Seaport, this year’s Winter Warmer featured two floors of food, drinks, crafts and conversation. Oh, and lots of “Pop-A-Shot” basketball. Many volunteers shared their mentoring stories, and as the night progressed, teachers and Boston Partners staff led several talking centers which focused on managing student behavior and working with English Language Learner (ELL) students.
The celebration was capped by a raffle including tickets generously donated by the Brattle Theater, cases of UFO Winter Blonde from Harpoon Brewery, and a Winter Warmer gift basket donated by our very own Mrs. Scasino from the Blackstone Elementary School.
We wish to thank all who attended and helped to make this one of the best Winter Warmer celebrations yet. Most importantly, we thank all of our academic mentors and educators who bring the same level of energy and positivity into classrooms with students every week!
Special thanks to Capital One Cafe and their incredible staff who continued to serve drinks and mingle with mentors until our very last enthusiastic guests were prepared to leave.
