On the heels of our 50th anniversary campaign – a celebration of 50 years of service to the Boston Public Schools – Boston Partners in Education aims to serve 25%, or 750, more students in one-on-one and small group academic mentoring matches over the next three to five years. To help build capacity to achieve this goal, we are hiring for two AmeriCorps VISTA positions within our Marketing & Development teams. VISTAs will capitalize on the increased awareness from our 50th Anniversary to promote the Boston Partners brand in schools and in the community, and identify and re-engage with past donors. Branding Coordinator

Position Description

The Branding Coordinator will focus on building brand recognition for Boston Partners in Education within the community, targeting school partners and volunteers. This position will play a pivotal role in dictating how Boston Partners will communicate its mission, values and programs to a wider audience, specifically to volunteers, school leaders and students within our 60-plus partnering Boston Public Schools. The VISTA will gain an invaluable opportunity to shape our organization’s brand and image, while building relationships with our community partners.

Primary activities will include:

    • Exploring ways to more effectively brand volunteers during mentoring sessions in schools
    • Leading a school outreach campaign to promote the Boston Partners’ brand in the Boston Public Schools
    • Securing opportunities to post branded materials in schools and the community
    • Creating a communications guide for our school partnerships
    • Analyzing public perception of our brand to inform strategic decisions

Development Coordinator

Position Description

The Development Coordinator will focus on building a system for identifying major donors and creating steps for moving them to higher levels of giving. Special attention will be given to volunteers and Big Cheese Readers who are not dollar donors, both of whom already demonstrate a commitment to our mission. The VISTA will have the satisfaction of having created a system for identifying, acknowledging and stewarding donors that can be used for many years to come. The skills acquired and experience gained by the VISTA will be useful for work with other non-profits, or can be used in the for profit environment.

Primary activities will include:

  • Establishing criteria for who qualifies as a major donor
  • Revitalizing an existing leadership giving society by researching similar organizations’ approach
  • Recommending benefits for various levels of giving
  • Designing plans to steward donors including regular communication, possible events design and strategies for recognizing donors.
