January 21, 2010--Boston, Mass. -- On Thursday April 8, Boston Partners in Education will celebrate its support of academic achievement and the personal growth of Boston Public School students at its Sixth Annual Big Cheese Reads Gala. Through its community and corporate volunteer academic mentors, Boston Partners reached over 5,800 students 2008-2009.
As part of the evening’s events, Boston Partners will honor Dr. Carol Johnson, Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools and Joseph C. Antonellis – Vice Chairman at State Street Corporation and his wife, MaryLynn.
Joseph and MaryLynn Antonellis have supported Boston Partners in Education’s mission in many ways. Mr. Antonellis has served on our Board of Directors for five years, four of those as Board Chair. Mrs. Antonellis has single-handedly run our silent and live auctions at our annual galas over the last four years and through these efforts she has raised over $230,000 in support of our programs.
Executive Director, Pamela Civins says, “We are especially excited to honor both Joe and MaryLynn Antonellis for their leadership roles at Boston Partners in Education. Together, Joe and MaryLynn exemplify the ideal model of support and engagement of leaders within our organization. Not only do they give their own time and resources as Big Cheese Readers in middle school classrooms all over our city, but they also enthusiastically engage friends and family to support their work with us.”

Gail Huff of WCVB-TV, Channel 5 and wife of newly-elected Senator, Scott Brown, will emcee the gala.
