On Thursday, April 27th, Boston Partners in Education welcomed over 500 guests to the 50th Anniversary Gala celebration, held at The Agganis Arena. The annual event raised over $700,000, a record-breaking amount for the organization. Proceeds from the event go to providing Boston Public Schools students in every neighborhood of the city, with academic mentors.

“We are blown away by the tremendous support we received during our gala – every dollar raised goes to continuing the important work of helping students succeed by placing community members in classrooms as academic mentors,” said Pamela Civins, Executive Director of Boston Partners in Education. “As we look to the next 50 years, we are so pleased to be surrounded by so many loyal supporters and advocates.”

Sponsored by Liberty Mutual, Salesforce, and Boston Financial Data Services, the Gala opened with a silent auction and cocktail hour, followed by a seated dinner with an all-star entertainment program. Boston Partners was honored to welcome current volunteers and teachers into the arena before students from the Roland Hayes School of Music chorus, Serious Shade performed a “history lesson” for guests. Later, Jim Calhoun, Hall of Fame Head Coach of UConn Men’s Basketball (1986-2012), took the stage to share his perspective on mentoring and coaching for success.

The evening closed with dessert and dancing to live musical entertainment – as a special tribute to the volunteers who support Boston Partners throughout the year. This year the organization experienced one of its most successful academic mentoring years, with more mentors, in more matches, serving more students than ever before, over the past decade.
